Urinalysis according to Nechiporenko
If it is necessary to quantify erythrocytes, leukocytes, cylinders (shaped elements) in the urine, a urine test is performed according to Nechiporenko . It is prescribed by a doctor when an increased number of leukocytes is detected in the general blood test , in the general analysis of urine - cylinders, and in other cases.
To obtain a reliable analysis result, the patient should be taught the preparation and direct collection of urine. The equipment for this procedure is a clean, dry jar or a plastic container with a hermetically sealed lid and a referral for research filled out in the prescribed form.
In preparation for the collection of urine, it is necessary to wash the external genital organs. For this purpose, equipment is being prepared:
- jug or mug of Esmarch;
- lining oilcloth;
- vessel;
- forceps;
- sterile wipes;
- boiled water.
Preparation for the procedure for collecting urine for research according to Nechiporenko:
- We make a direction for research.
- We establish a trusting and confidential relationship with the patient, ensuring that obstacles in communication are overcome.
- We explain to the patient the purpose of the study and the course of preparation for it, obtain the patient's consent to the procedure, clarify the correct understanding of the explanation.
We teach the patient how to prepare and perform the procedure:
- prepare a dry, clean jar with a capacity of 100-200 ml, after washing it with warm water and soda without soap, or take a clean, hermetically sealed plastic container for collecting urine;
- in the morning, hold the toilet of the external genital organs, washing and wiping in the direction from the urethra to the perineum and anus (in a hospital, bedridden patients are washed by a nurse);
- allocate the first portion of urine into the toilet (at the expense of 1, 2), delay urination, then allocate an average portion of urine, at least 10 ml, into a jar (container), finish urinating into the toilet.
End of procedure
In a hospital setting: close the jar or container with a lid, pack the referral in a plastic bag and deliver the material with referral to the laboratory.
On an outpatient basis: we first explain to the patient or his relatives where and when to bring a jar of urine and referral for research.
Urine collected for research according to Nechiporenko must be delivered to the laboratory no later than 1-2 hours after collection.
Urinalysis according to Nechiporenko, norm
- Erythrocytes - up to 1000 in 1 ml of urine.
- Leukocytes - up to 2000 in 1 ml of urine.
- Cylinders - up to 20 in 1 ml of urine.
The reasons for the increase in performance may be different, they are determined by the attending physician.
