Independent Nursing Interventions
So, the fourth stage of the nursing process includes independent nursing interventions in addition to dependent ones . Such interventions are within the competence of the nurse. They are carried out without a special prescription from the attending physician and other specialists.
Independent nursing interventions. Nurse actions
1. Patient care:
- feeding;
- change of underwear, bed linen;
- changes in the position of the patient in bed;
- delivery of the vessel with subsequent disinfection;
- carrying out procedures for the personal hygiene of the patient.
2. Moral support of the patient:
- organization of the patient's leisure;
- training in self-care techniques;
- conversations with the patient in order to instill confidence in their abilities.
3. Manipulations:
- measurement of chest circumference, body weight, patient height ;
- body temperature measurement;
- heart rate measurement;
- blood pressure measurement;
- respiratory rate count.
4. Providing first aid to the patient in emergency conditions.
5. Carrying out activities to comply with the sanitary and epidemiological regime:
- disinfection combined with pre-sterilization treatment and sterilization of instruments and other medical products;
- collection, disinfection and disposal of waste according to the classification
6. Maintenance of primary medical records.
Independent nursing interventions are performed depending on the situation and the needs of the patient.
