Transport immobilization for shoulder fracture
Transport immobilization for a shoulder fracture is performed using:
- standard stair rail;
- plastic tire;
- improvised means.
Immobilization is performed by capturing 3 joints: shoulder, elbow and wrist. The tire should not be applied to the naked body. If the victim has no clothes, the limb is wrapped with a cloth.
Transport immobilization in case of fracture of the shoulder with a ladder splint
A ladder tire is taken 120 cm long. Fragments of a bandage or gauze tape 75-80 cm long are tied at the corners of one end of the tire. The tire is wrapped with cotton, securing with a bandage. The tire is bent at a right angle at a distance equal to the length of the victim's shoulder. Further bending of the tire applying an immobilizing bandage produces on itself:
- in the formed corner of the tire puts the elbow of the hand that is damaged in the victim;
- with the second hand grabs the upper end of the tire and bends it to the back;
- leans his hand on the table and makes body movements from side to side, giving the splint the desired configuration, corresponding to the curves of the shoulder and back.
A splint is placed on the injured limb of the victim, creating a physiological position:
- the shoulder is brought forward by 30 degrees;
- a cotton-gauze roller is inserted into the armpit;
- the ends of the bandages go around a healthy shoulder in front and behind and tie them on the forearm to the other end of the tire;
- lay cotton-gauze swabs between the 1st finger and 4 opposite ones, as well as between the 1st and 2nd fingers;
- the tire is fixed on the limb with a bandage;
- the splinted hand is hung on a scarf.
Transport immobilization in case of fracture of the shoulder with a plastic splint
It is performed similarly to immobilization with a ladder splint: it is modeled in the area of the elbow joint, shoulder and shoulder girdle. The plastic tire is strengthened with the help of the cord it has.
Transport immobilization in case of a shoulder fracture using improvised means
As improvised means, you can use: a board, a shovel, an umbrella, a stick, brushwood, skis - a hard material or products made from it. In the absence of improvised means, a scarf is made of fabric by hanging a hand on it. In the case of the complete absence of improvised means, the limb is bandaged to the body.
